1g-fe compression ratio is 10:1 I think, this will drop to 8.5:1 if you use the GTE rods and pistons.

I must admit I'm not fully Upto speed on the workings of compression ratios. So no help at the mo. something I must read up on.

as far as I can work out, it's the pistons that change the comp ratio. I'm planning on using the GTE rods with the FE piston in my FE engine so I get the stronger rod and maintain the higher compression ratio.

It would seem it's the rods that are the weak point of the FE engine, not the pistons. My results will be a long way off mate, I'm not in a position to do an engine rebuild yet (until at least September). I've only just finished getting the rest of the car ready for a speed upgrade.
