Donnington park
Donnington park
Is the withdrawal of the British super-bikes the final nail in the coffin for Donnington park as a motor sport venue?
Today the Super-bike Grand Prix organisers confirmed they will be at the Croft circuit for 2010.
Does look like it might be, have any reasons been provided as to why? It looks like they're not in great financial shape though, so perhaps organisers lost faith in whether they'd be able to provide what was required.
It'll be a shame if Donny do lose any more main sports events as its a great track and i go up there at least twice a month if i can, there supposed to be holding more drift events there next year? but not sure how long it will last without the backing of major events?
I think the reason was the owners of Donnington have gone into administration, they have already started pulling up the track ready for F1 - so there is no confidence that there will even be a usable track in time for any racing next year.
toxo Technically it's not the owners who've gone into administration but the management company. The track is a small part of a large estate owned by a rich family IIRC.

parthiban My honest opinion is that they never wanted to switch the F1 to Donnington - it was all an elaborate plan to get silverstone to agree to new terms (they knew Donnington's development would fall apart).I would agree with that, F1 is all about the money, Donny should have left it alone, someone got greedy i think, big price to pay, was a great track
If that really was the case and has resulted in Donnington getting royally screwed, I feel really bad for them and Bernie should be made to pay for it....
