Steve the best think for me to do is wait to see Andrews vehicles and get a better understanding on what i want and need.
So far i guess its going to be a drift vehicle that is fully fuctional with controller etc:
Also i may go down the line of the flashing strobe lights (god i sound like a boy racer).
I may also look to buy one when i in Asia next month if they work out cheaper...

be careful when ordering bodyshells online, as they are quite flimsy and can crease if they get squashed in transit and it will scar the body and you wont be able to hide it by painting over it and you probably wouldnt get the paint into the crease without flooding it, and at 20quid per shell you dont want to recieve a damaged shell, trust me i made the mistake! so if you can get the local shop to order it and dont take it unless its perfect also take it out the bag in the shop and check it thoroughly you need a perfect shell after all it is you hard earned you spending.

i wouldnt put no extra electrics apart from the essentials you only have limited battery power theres no alternater to keep it recharged so your 30 minutes (if you got good conditioed battery thats fully chared and at correct temp) of high speed constant motor turnin then becomes reduced and less power goes to the motor and speed controller, not good in a proper race but for arcing about in a car park at night could be a wise idea so it dont get squased by a car 10times its size lol

I don't think that's so much of a problem in drifting though dino, as opposed to racing. I've got a LiPo battery at 4000mAh which should last a lot longer than 30 minutes, as far as I can tell. Also with LiPos you don't get a gradual tail-off, less power going to the motor as they go on, you get a pretty constant power feed compared to NiMh. Oh, and LiPos are lighter too ! Big Grin

Lexusboy Also i may go down the line of the flashing strobe lights (god i sound like a boy racer).
That's ok, because that's what the pro drifters do on their 1:1 cars ! Big Grin

I'm definitely going to get some strobe lights for mine at some point. The control units are very expensive.

Wouldn't it be handy if there was someone at the club who was an electronic wiz and could make things like this ... Big Grin

battery technology has obviously out paced my knowledge in the last 10 years i have heard about the lipo batteries and dont much about them do they need a proper lipo charger rather than just a standard charger ie. different type of peak charging or something along those lines (batteries was all ways my weak point i hated having to watch the batteries charging so you dont burn them out by over heating and over charging)
i need lessons in battery conditioning lol

Yep, with a LiPo you *must* use a LiPo capable charger, and charge at the correct rate. Or just like with any battery type, if you charge it wrong something nasty could happen (e.g. exploding batteries).

They don't have a memory effect so you don't have to discharge them after you've used them, just charge again even if they are partly charged/discharged.

Also with LiPos, you *must* use a LiPo-capable ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) with a voltage cut-off. For those new to this, the ESC is receiving input from the r/c receiver and is telling the motor how fast to go etc. It also has the battery plugged into it. So the ESC needs to be able to sense the voltage of the LiPo as it runs down, and cut off the power when it gets to a certain threshold - this is because if you discharge the LiPo too much it will permanently damage it.
