tapping noise
tapping noise
the last couple of mornings when ive started the car i get a tapping sound from the cams for a few secounds then it disappears and i dont hear it again for the rest of the day.
Is this somthing to be concerned about?
im thinking its just the oil draining from the head and leaving the cams and followers (if thts wat they are) dry?
is there a way of stopping this from happening?

checked oil and this is fine although will be doing an oil flush and filter change this week.
anyone recommend a good quality oil aswell?

As for oil, get yourself over to opie oils. Send him a PM and he will get back to you with recomendations, if not, im sure on the website they are listed by vehicle
Sounds to me like its just the followers draining out over night. As long as it dissapears after a couple of seconds you should be fine.

i took the cam cover off yesturday to look for any unusual wear and was surprised to find it looking rather tidy. cams look in brilliant condition.
hopefully after the oil change i wont hear the tapping any more on cold start.

Thanks Hurricane and SHAHZ. going down town this morning to get engine flush , filter and silkoline pro race as this was recomended on the opie oils site.

Things done :- SPC turbo kit (custom), Blueflame cat back with custom tip, B&M shortshift, grooved discs all round, Mintex pads all round, OEM wheels in white,Denso ik22s, Calipers painted black,04 spec rear lights, Tein basic coilovers, Helix organic clutch, Fan washer jets, late spec headlights (dark), Carbon bonnet, Hotchkis anti roll bars, Front arm rest, Top box from late spec.

Nah LEX11S im not tht lucky.
mines in an almera and done double tht milage lol.
got some WYNNS engine flush to throw in before hand for good measure.
