Morning all, before i go taking bits of the car how easy is it to adjust the throttle cable

reason for asking is we believe the project cars throttle was adjusted to allow it to idle better, mine idle fine most of the time but occasionally it wants to stall which is getting very annoying now lol

cheers

Andrew, the idle speed is controlled by the engine ecu and is influenced by various loads on the engine, for eg, aircon, heated rear window, power steering etc.
It may appear that your throttle body may need a clean with a spray of carb cleaner
Never adjust by the length of the throttle cable.

Will get some carb cleaner later as the idle is intermitent, it could be dirty....

Wayne has said he believes the cable was adjusted but no way of checking for sure now...

You should adjust your idle air control valve rather than your throttle cable if your end goal is raising the idle slightly. If you adjust the throttle cable to keep the butterfly slightly open all the time then your TPS will be useless.

The only time you should adjust your throttle cable is to remove slack from the cable to improve throttle response. That's usually only necessary if the cable has slipped.

ok well i tightened the throttle cable and all seems well now its idling a bit better, but didnt think it would make that much difference taking the slack out of it....
