Here is some info on storing cars mate
If it was mine, I would keep it taxed if I could afford it (mini isn't too bad is it? ) especially over the winter months because at the very least you should run it a while at least once a fortnight and if you don't actually drive it or move it, you'll find the tyres end up flat spotted and the rubbers and belts start cracking .. In warmer months it's not quite so bad but I wouldn't leave a car of mine non moving that long over a winter period .. personally
