OK I have been back a while now, but only just got round to this!!

1st thanks a lot to Jay_Russell for an interesting trip to Scandinavia somewhere not that many of us have been I am sure.

The weather was as expected - cold but no way near as cold as we expected, which was a relief!!!

We hired a Toyota IQ from Jays dealership, and were lucky enough to get jays staff discount that brought the cost down to E55 for 3 days but with a 100KM limit - which we blew out of the water:lol: so ended up paying another E20 for extra miles - still very very good value.

The Toyota IQ is as gutless as anything seriously on the motorway it falls behind everything, and people don't notice you even with the compulsory side lights on. But in town it is a really really good machine - exactly what it was designed for. The strange thing was I couldn't get it started, couldn't find an immobiliser or anything?????? So after a bit of faffing about I pressed the clutch and that allowed the engine to start - apparently in Sweden people don;t use the hand break in winter because it freezes so cars are routinely left in gear, having to press the clutch to start is normal out there for safety reasons. The IQ returned 42MPG, so not as good as the PriusConfusedmoke: But it was on the motorway a lot and thats not what it is for.

We had several home cooked meals and of course sampled the Indian and Pizza offerings, all good but I must say UK Indian is better:drool::drool::drool::drool:

Prices are NOT WHAT PEOPLE SAY, there are things that are really expensive like Alcohol and fresh veg/fruit but most things were the same or cheaper then the UK, which shows how expensive the UK has got. Petrol was slightly cheaper in Sweden but that saving would be wiped out if the exchange rate changed.

On the way to Jays place after the Indian, we were treated to a convoy of Volvo 780's/240's using a roundabout in the middle of the town for drifting practice - they were really good, although Jay had winter tyres on so couldn't join in.Confusedad:

The car park behind the hotel also attracted a lot of drifters, 99% of them Volvos, but there was a MINT white Supra turbo thaw went sideways REALLY REALLY well!!!!!

We also went to the Horse racing next to the hotel, it was a darn wet and windy night, but a great night out. The entrance fee was £5, thats it wow thats cheap, and food was reasonable burger and chips and coffee was something like £6.50, but a bottle of Cider was £8:ohmy: thats not a miss print £8, but it was very good Cider

Apart from various trips to Goternbourg, and other towns large and small theres not much to say, only Sweden is a BEAUTIFUL CLEAN country and everyone wants to help when you ask for help, even an old man in a small village was able to give us directions in perfect English!!

would love to see it in the summer when everything is green and hot, but for a city break you cant go far wrong with Goternbourg.

Tanks Jay, and Anna (Mrs Jay), and thanks also to Patrick for offering us to stay round his way also but we just could not fit it into our schedule, maybe next time.

Oh did I say it was clean?????? Made Switzerland look shabby TBH - and thats high praise as those who went on the Swiss trip will attest to.

The trains and bus's all ran to a near perfect timetable also, the couple of trains we went on were all bang on time and were CHEAP really CHEAP, not worth going in the car if your going into the city the petroll would have been more let alone the parking charges, unless you had an eco charge then parking if FREE as it should be:p.

Watching Volvos drift is comical, but over there every other car is a Volvo, and there is a big tuning scene for them. I didn't say but they were mostly Estates, which made it stranger!!!
