Was under my car today, looking at changing the front ARB, but decided to leave it as it looked like a bigger job then I expected. But while I had the front tray off I noticed this....

Oil round the front of the sump, is this normal, or could this be a problem? I have checked the oil level and all is well there.

Hmm does look like a seal has gone somewhere,

only thing i can suggest is cleaning it off and then checking in a couple of days see if you can pinpoint it,

thats defo not the sump.......it looks like its coming from the crank shaft oil seal which then runs down the front and round the sides..
id fix as soon as poss.....you do not want oil on your timing belt....
also front antiroll bar less than 10 mins to change......i did a walk through on how to do it..

If it is the crankshaft seal which it looks like it is then the belt covers, the crankshaft pulley and timing belt Need to be removed then prise out old seal from behind where the pulley is removed from.
So realistically it would be a good time to replace the belt as it will be all stripped down.

The oil level is fine mate, and done nearly 2500miles since I bought the car. So think if they had topped it up to cover up the leak I think it would be low by now.
Going to have another go at the front ARB next weekend, using your guide, will clean it up then, and check it the week after. Smile
