Window Tinting
Window Tinting
you have to let in 70% of availiable lighton the front sides. most cars come with approx 20/30% tint as standard across all windows so even the light tint takes you over the limit. There is no give/leeway at all its either within limits or not. Some places will refuse to tint over the legal limits, some will ask you to sign a disclaimer statingit is for show use only and wont be used on the roads, otheres just dont care and dont keep a record of what theyve done!!
Traffic police are the only ones with the light sensor and only they can prove the level and ask you to remove. They can ask you to do it there and then as technically the vehicle is classed as unsafe to drive.
Now in practice, its normally too much hassle for a non-traffice cop to do this as they would have to give you a producer of kinds to attend the station and have the tints tested aswell which is a pain for them with paperwork.
So, unless they have another reason to challenge you or your driving like a *** your unlikely to bothered.
However occasionaly, especially in urban areas/areas reknown for trouble they do VOSA roadside checks inc tints. Sheffield seems to be prone for this..
I have light (35%) over the sport front tints and i think its about right. but if i got pulled i would have to do some fast talking!! Our other black is has limo black all round and a front visor about 9" down the screen..never been pulled or had any problems. its known to police as we run a security and close protection business and they have never bothered us.
Enjoy em and dont worry about it, im sure they have bigger probems to deal with like the notorious Essex criminal mastermind Jermain Defoe!!
Does it matter. I thought the car had to be over a certain age. As if the tints were put on before the law was brought out, they couldnt do anything.
(Or is it above the age?)
pre 1985 is slightly diff but still pretty much the same as above..
