2tongues Really you can measure the time difference lol.

It's visual, you can see the difference. Filament bulbs take up to half a second to get to full brightness so they have a slight fade. LED bulbs don't.

sprinter2012 And I've looked at that post on the DIY LED rings...looks like a pretty good idea. I might give that a go, but put one ring on the very outer edge, and then a second ring slightly further in like the ones I posted. Ideally what I'd like to do would be fit twin LED rings in both the brake and fog lights, and then disconnect the sidelight bulbs so only the LEDs were on unless I braked, assuming the LEDs are bright enough to allow this of course...

Yeah, well i think you will find it very hard to find a ring that goes right to the edge of the light. The closest i found was like 12mm diameter i think. i think you will find it hard to see this. But as i mentioned before, I am working on a different set of light that are much brighter so you could use that. which is going to be better i think.
