A Flux always get a call in the vain hope hey quote me happy, not happened yet I am sad to say. Not even their American section was close on the Trans Am - £300+ out this year.
If I were A Flux I'd try and get Admiral (or whoever the company is behind the scenes) on-board as one of their underwriters, because at the moment their prices are a total joke.
They market themselves as the best insurer for performance cars/modified cars, but plain old Admiral walk all over them.
I've heard nothing but bad stuff abotu A Flux when it comes to making a claim too. Admiral on the other hand dealt with my claim at the beginning of the year really well. Even though they couldn't get the other party to admit blame, they let me keep my NCB and refunded me my excess!!
When it came to insuring my E55 I went straight to admiral and didnt even bother checking elsewhere. £1k to insure a 500bhp car when I'm not even 30 yet and have only been driving 2 years is a bargain in my books.
Indeed, AFlux were 650 for the Trans Am, and LV of all people were £255 like for like cover.
Voodoo Vix Bell is one of their's too but I find admiral the cheapest of the three. Quotes from money supermarket are also cheaper than quotes from compare the market and confused.com

I only meant it to mean check more than one comparison site as results tend to differ
Marsdendean Mine ended up well beyond £2k for a standard car!

There's so many factors to take into account its hard to say what's best.
And everyone will have had a different experiance with companies, flux where the cheapest for me and I've had bad dealings with elephant so wouldn't go with them again.
Where others differ, your best bet is get as many qoutes as you can
My advice is whoever you're with, get an experienced woman on there, girlfriend, wife, mum etc. Even if you never plan on letting them drive the car (maybe don't even tell them you've insured them so they're not tempted. lol)
I paid just under £1000 for my last years insurance as an under 21 with 1 year NCB.
Having my mum on there dropped it by nearly £400!
Thankfully it will drop another level next time as I've become 21 since then
