These are all great suggestions but failing the usual fault finding techniques (hit with hammer, hit with bigger hammer, swear, squirt with WD40, hit with high heels pebbles and bricks), you could try checking the resistance of the thermistor.
It's attached to the underside of the crash bar behind the front bumper. The resistance should be 1.6-1.8 kiloOhms at 25 degrees centigrade dropping to 0.5-0.7 kiloOhms at 50 degrees centigrade.
Failing that try touching your nose spinning around whille looking at the sky and invoking the great spirit Om!
well i think its given up completey as it just reads -- instead of numbers, or i hit it to hard with the pebble
