I also cleaned and painted the crash bar, but its not fitted yet. I am making some brackets up to take another pair of foglights. The brackets will be part of the crash bar to make sure the fogs are securely mounted. They will be fitted and then the bumper will go over the top - hopefully.

Ive still got a lot to get done, and i was hoping to go to the BTCC next sunday, so saturday night is now my deadline to be finished

Remove and paint caliper bracket DONE
Rebuild calipers with pistons and new seals DONE
Fit new discs, pads, calipers and bleed whole system DONE (except the bleed)
Paint and fit rear calipers and disks (waiting for delivery)
Fit stereo head unit & changer
Remove, clean and grease, refit short shift
Fit new steering wheel DONE
Remove damaged fog lights and replace with different units (almost done)
Good wash & polish
New radiator (more spending) DONE
Repair side bumper trims
Spacers for rear wheels (IS 200 rims)

Interested to see how you tackle the foglights, there's not exactly a lot to attach to on the underside of the crash bar and I need to make up some brackets to space mine out a bit.

The original foglights are screwed onto two small tabs. I removed the rusty screws, and the captive nut from the back. I am going to bolt on my adaptor plate using these existing holes, then bolt the fogs onto my adaptor plates.

If that doesnt work so well, i will weld a bracket onto the crash bar, but im hoping i dont need to do that. The fogs are just some cheapy round units i have sitting in the garage for now. If it all works as planned i may get some nicer ones at a later date.

Ill put pics up when im working on it

Ah right you removed the captive nut. I've still got all 4 of those intact having painstakingly removed the remains of the bolts after drilling the heads off.

I thought about bonding the foglights straight onto the bumper actually, I know of someone else who's done that. It was a right ballache getting the beam alignment right though, apparently.

I've got some strip aluminium to build some brackets out of so I think I will stick to that plan and see where it gets me Big Grin

Good work so far

Well i couldnt be bothered to drill out the rusty screws, so i took my air cut off to the captive nut. Only took about 5 mins to remove all 4. I may need to make the brackets removable though to access the bottom bolt that holds the crash bar on. If i do that i may end up welding some new nuts back on the crash bar, but thats a simple job.

I didnt like the idea of going onto the bumper, firstly because of the alignment issues, but secondly, even though it has the clips securing that section, its still quite flexible, and i cant stand lights that bounce around as you go down the road.

I ordered a few parts from toyota today for collection on friday. Ive decided to take the day off work to make sure the car is sorted.

Parts ordered

Altenator tensioner (missing from car :ohmySmile (2 bolts and bracket)
Dizzy cap + bolts
Rotor arm + bolts
Dizzy oil seal
Dizzy dust seal
Coolant temp sensor

This little lot came to £161. Confusedhock: But at least with these fitted it should all be running nice again.

My rear calipers were paid for on saturday, so they will hopefully be with me in the next couple of days. Its going to be a busy couple of days getting these last bits sorted out, but im sure it will all be worth it.

I am going to be fitting IS200 alloys to the car - james' old wheels. I need to get some 20mm spacers for the rear.

The wheels will be refurbished after i have had the car set up at WIM. I am going to do them with a colour coded centre and a polished face, providing they are not too badly kerbed, if they are the face will be painted silver.

I have some 20mm spacers on the front of mine... they will need to be hubcentric with the right centre bore (NOT Nissan ones) and at 20mm will either have to have their own studs or you'll need to get longer ones pressed into the hub as you'll dwarf the stock ones!

Coolant temp sensor will want a new crush washer and a 19mm deep socket but you won't lose any coolant changing it

Got a theory about your alt tensioner as well... I reckon the previous owner probably tried to remove and retension the alt without loosening the bottom pivot bolt to try and save time/agro, which bends the tensioner!
