Hi There, just wanted to say what a great pleasure it was to see your car and i'm trully amazed you found one here in the UK of places as i have stated already in a few other places this car and its engine and I go waaaaaay waaaaay back, when living in South Africa I happened to own the sedan version of this car know in SA as the Corolla 1600 twincam GLi exec, which came with a full leather interior and all the electric bells and whistles of the time, we also had a rare version of your hatchback which was known as the Conquest RSi however this beast came with the 7A-FE 1800 twincam motor and believe it or not they continued to produce this car right up untill a few years ago so if you are looking for cheap spares and don't mind longer then usuall delivery times try looking ion the South African market Wink i think you'll be surprised what you might be able to find and for prises that i think will be better suited to your pocket just to give you an idea of how good you'll have it you can pick up a 4AGE 1600 16V twincam for the equivalent of 120pounds, so yeah spares will be very cheap for you if you can get them from SA, so good luck and i hope my info helps.

Hi mate and thanks for the help! The issue with the market in SA is that most aren't willing to ship out! Sad But I've done ok so far haha!

I've finally managed to give her the first full valet of the summer - rinse, wash, paint clean, clay, polish, wax etc and she's looking good - that should keep things fresh for the rest of the summer Big Grin

However, my money and mind aren't set on cleanliness - I've got some major plans that are in full swing and something is in the post... did someone say ITB's??? Wink

Thank you matey - not to worry the whole thing will be documented. I have some 260/172 cams in the pipeline along with some adjustable pulleys. There'll also be a set of lovely new HKS Valve Springs to match, all accompanied by MOTEC ECU Wink

Well I'm going to see if i can open up shipping channels between here and SA, because not only can we cater for your baby rolla we can cater for the VW MK1 as well, both of these cars remained in production well into the later years of the new millenium so these parts and engines are still to be had at very cheap prices!

On the lead up to JAE I had the front wheel bearings done at last so now I need to adjust to hearing road noise and nothing else. I officially have no knocks, bangs, rattles or grinding noises to worry about! Big Grin Just a £360 from the bearings being done D: turns out they're a very tough item to get hold of for my car.

Seeing as I just poured money out for the JAE weekend I needed to get something to make the pain more bearable... so here I finally have some new wheel nuts to replace the corroded chrome items:

Shame I missed it at JAE - really like this car.

totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

Hi all, it has been a while! Since JAE a lot has been done - I've equipped the pocket rocket with a sub, 6x9's and a good Alpine Bluetooth Head-Unit; I am partly ashamed to say that, however it comes with the territory and I do like good sound quality. The standard system just didn't do it for me so I needed to upgrade.

I've also swapped out the thermostat and the fan start switch as they both died a death. Tested them in water and the sensor wasn't sure if it was a sensor or a carrot and the thermostat just shat itself in the mug when I tested it. They're working fine now, she warms up within 7 minutes instead of 20 so all good news there.

I've also made tweaks here and there to the interior, bits are getting repainted and replaced etc.

The engine bay has unfortunately gotten tatty, but it gets used so I shan't shed too many tears there.

Big news is that I have just this morning collected her from Rapidtune in Bath who built and fitted a gorgeous LongLife exhaust system:

Was a ****** nightmare with insurance and timings etc but we got there in the end! Couldn't be happier with the results, absolutely stunning craftsmanship. He re-routed it as Toyota intended and kept each weld neat and tidy. The tips are the perfect size and shape etc and the sound is just sublime!

Here's a quick video - not too sure why my iPhoen cut it so much but hey.

Mandrel Bent Tail over rear axle:

Had to move the joint when he found the back box couldn't come out But he welded it nicely!

Centre and Mid-Section:

Downpipe Connection:

General Snaps:

I'm over the moon with this work. Really sound hot when you give it the berries but it's sensible when you're pootling through towns where the residents don't take too kindly to the bark of a quintessential 80's hot hat!

But of course, she never leaves me without work to do, so now I have a coolant leak

Being a Corolla she didn't overheat!
