The IS300 is the better car. I own an IS200 and will be buying an IS300 to tune. There is A LOT of information and gear out there for the 2JZ engine. The 1G-FE in the IS200 will probably be 2 or 3 times as expensive in terms of £ for horsepower and it's a worse engine than the 2JZ to begin with.

Also, an NA IS300 kicks out about the same power as a supercharged IS200, which will set you back £2k + just for the SC kit. Easy maths to be honest.

In terms of differences, the IS300 has a different back end configuration. Someone might have to correct me here, but the IS300 diff has a much bigger pumpkin than the IS200. Never looked under both to check though.

Also: The headlight cluster is slightly different if you have the HID fitted IS300.

I'm not even going to say sorry for that one, you will get used to it on this forum Big Grin

For some reason, insurance on an IS300 also seems to be cheaper than a 200.

Dino from what I've read you can turbo the 300 without lowering the compression ratio aslong as you keep the boost level low

Even when you do want to go a bit higher, you can put a TT head gasket on and up the boost a little. Safer to change the pistons though. 2JZ engines really are amazing bits of kit.
