£2k for the link? Even the xtreme It's 1400 quid including loom from Thor! So I bet it's cheaper elsewhere.

I got quoted 1400 + vat + loom to match the is200 to the v8. Maybe I just sound like a mug on the phone Big Grin

I still think megasquirt is going to be a good option if I can find a tuner.

Megasquirt is great but unfortunately most of the knowledge is in the states......ECU's tend to be to a degree a 'trend' thing, what i mean by this is different nationalities tend to rave about 1 ECU, the UK have Syvecs/Link, the States the big thing right now is ProEFI and ofcourse Motec are still up there and then in Aus everybody is running Haltech.

The Megasquirt MS3X is one of the best 'bang for buck' ECU's about imo, absolutely feature packed to rival the likes of Link Xtreme/Syvecs S6 but as everybody knows a ECU is only as good as the mapper, imo choose your mapper and then see what he recommends as this is likely to be what he is most familiar/comfortable with Smile

well I don't know what my options are in terms of mappers, as I don't know anyone. So if someone does know of a megasquirt mapper in the uk, please tell me!

I'd have to travel regardless of what ecu I got anyway.

You know i have also been wondering what ECU to go for because most of the turbo guys went the Greddy EManage /ultimate route but have not yet got their cars running any where near 100% on any worthy-of-mentioning-boost figures yet so i'm really querying whether or not this is the CU/piggyback, system to go for, I mean is it really the only opetion or is it really the best for a Turboed IS200? surely there must be a better ECU with more compatibility out there for the IS or at least be more plug and play ?
Hey May be i'm wrong but i'd still like to here from the boys working there Butts oof to figure out how to get their cars running sweetly on eManages what their opinions are and whether there is an easier option...

A simple turbo kit will run on the emanage no problem.

Members are having issues by trying to remove the over complex Lexus wiring (jimbob with the throttle for example).

Of course a better ecu is a standalone but its overkill if your just adding a simple turbo to the existing engine.

Others have run aem ecus with success. I personally ran an emanage with a supercharger setup and it was spot on. I now run a link g4 storm.

Ok but in the case of the Emanage don't you loose certain items that are OEM in the IS, i.e: Airconditioning and or some of the clocks susch as speedo or fuel level or what ever...

I mean I don't want to open a can of worms with this conversation but i plan on doing a turbo conversion, as some of you already know, its not going to be a standard low boost bolt on kit i plan on going a little over that level i mean i am going to be doing the necessary minimum upgrades to the engine like stronger rods and pistons, ARB head an main bolts etc etc cos i plan to push hp to around 270-300hp on the crank/Fly so i will need either a piggy back or a standalone instead of a "little black box" my point is many of you have not had a very easy build the minute you started on the ECU you chose, many of you have had to sacrifice many of the OEM creature comforts of the car, but i for one want to keep those, especially if i'm going to fork out 6 months worth of saving for one of these magical boxes, I mean sorry if i'm being hard assed about this but come on we shell out huge amounts to turn our chosen cars in to our dream vehicles, the last thing i want is to sacrifice the luxury of the vehicle for a little extra fun, especially if we do all the work ourselves, i'm mean evn some of you have to admit (SparkyStav, Jimbob, John Wan), that you have been busy on your cars for a long time and out of all of that time howlong has your car been on the road working 100% as if it just came from the factory, I mean really working at 1 bar boost 300 odd Horses with all the OEM luxuries working, I have follwed many of your threads and from what i have understood one or two of you have yet to get it on the road as a completed project, don't get m wrong i appreciate all of you doing all that hard work... Hell you convinced me to start on my project, I just get the feeling many of you get to a cross roads in the your build where you get forced to sacrifice one thing for the boost, because the ECU you have chosen doesn't quite work on that function or it doesn't fully work on another function or standard dials, some how that doesn't sound like an improvement to me it sounds like a rip off hence my question out of all the brands of ECU's available all over the world which one is most likely to work on the Lexus without needing us to give up something else

...Or have i got the wrong end of the stick here Lads (and Lady's where applicable of course)

I mean a little bit of insight into the world that is Aftermarket ECU's would go a long way here for many of us lets see a list of pros and cons about each of the top contenders or something at least like a survey or some one with a bit of feed back about if they go back and try again what would they do differently?

Right I understand what your saying but the emanage is still a useful ecu.

Ill put it simply, if your adding a turbo kit to the standard engine (even one with uprated rods pistons,but with all the standard ancillaries) then the emanage will capably control the fuelling and ignition levels needed with a wideband Afr and a boost sensor for the emanage. As will almost any other piggyback ecu like the aem.

Jimbob has fallen foul of removing the inlet manifold that has all Lexus refinements on like semi electronic throttle, idle control built into throttle, etc.


If you do start adding things like inlet manifolds, then it is simpler to have a standalone to get around the issues but the Lexus wiring is still a ball ache then.

I think the moral of the story is that it's the Lexus refinements and wiring that's the issue mostly.
