I assume you have a clean air filter, good oil etc?
What does your mechanic say he must have an idea??
It could be the cat...........
He just changed the oil and filter for me today mate.
Not sure what he is thinking now to tell you the truth, but he is coming back to mine in about 15mins so will see then
He has been adjusting the FCD to see if that will help
Bandit Adjusting the FCD shouldn't make any difference mate, as its for the fuel cut at the top of the rev range??

Might do mate, when i had mine done they took the air filter off and ran it without and passed?
I had a pipercross foam filter fitted at the time and it was useless as it ran quite rich with it fitted?
As has already been suggested, a good suggestion is to rag the hell out of your car before putting it in for emissions as catalytic converters work better the hotter they are. Obviously if your mate has the car already and has been working at it for a while then it'll be cold and there's not a lot you can do about it. Even lobbing a bit of redex in can help.
Otherwise you probably need to work out what the problem is If he can provide you with the emissions figures this can help to work out what's going on.
As suggested above messing with the FCD will have no bearing on emissions whatsoever.
Ok going to put in some Redex tomorrow and give it a good blast.
He thought it might have been the cat that stuffed but the engine managment light would be on if thats the case.
Here is the test figures............
Fast Idle Test.....
CO max limit is 0.300 Actual Value is 0.664 = FAIL
Second Fast Idle Test ........
CO max limit is 0.300 Actual Value is 0.733 = FAIL
Natural Idle Test.........
CO max limit is 0.500 Actual Value is 0.184 = Pass
Lambda Min limit is for both fast idle tests are 0.970 and max are 1.030 Actual value is 1.013 and 1.010 which is a pass
Overall Result FAIL

Gord With you only having the main cat, (your pre cats have gone) it needs to be very hot, when tested, taking it for a very good blast will help to mate

Well my mate said when he adjusted the FCD it did not make much of a difference , He tried it a setting 4 , 9 and 12 and he also took the SC belt off and that did not help either.
