Solicitor Demanding Money !
Quote:Thank you for your email,
As it clearly states in paragraph 4 of my original email, the payment of £49 is being withheld untill such evidence can be provided by yourself showing authorisation from myself and Shakela giving you authorisation to go ahead with the work required.
You state in the second paragraph that you decided to start the work out of normal procedure as you had not recieved our authorisation via the letter dated 2nd December. Which concludes the fact that you did not have any authorisation in regards to any work to be carried out.
To clarify, until such paperwork is produced which contains our signatures, the payment of £49 will be withheld.
I respectfully request that if you are aware that such paperwork does not exist, that you refrain from continuing to chase this matter.
Yours Sincerly
Quote:You had to sign paperwork with the mortgage company authorising instructions to be sent to me and of course this is authorisation for me to start work. You also came to see me to discuss what was wanted and in particular that the matter was to complete as quickly as possible and therefore I got on with the job with that end in view only for you to then instruct other solicitors but not bothering to tell me
Haha, this is funny, i just mentioned this today and then got this reply:
heres my last email to him on the 17th June:

Harrassment sounds good. Im no good with replies... Lets wait for somebody else to post .
But to me, 34days is a long time to wait, and then again ask for money...
yeah exactly, im just doing some research on harrseement which i can mention in the next email, and this time instead of saying stop chasing me, im going ask for him to confirm he will stop chasing, otherwise i might have to wait another 34 days for a reply lol
Quote:Good Evening,
Firstly I am amused that it has taken you 34 days to reply to my last email to you, and your reply once again does not provide what we have been asking for from the start. But let me please repeat myself, to clarify, until such paperwork is produced which contains our signatures; the payment of £49 will be withheld. If you do not have this evidence then pursuit of the amount must seize immediately. The fact that up to now you have not provided it, it shows clearly that no such documentation exists.
If you continue to pressure this matter without providing the requesting documents then you are in breach of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and if you continue I will put forward a claim of harassment. I am sure you are aware of what the act clearly states.
I also request that all correspondence is sent to me directly.
I look forward to a reply within 7 days and confirmation that you will seize from chasing this payment.
Yours Sincerely
Saraj Ull-Din
heres my proposed response: but welcome input, wont send it yet

I would make an e-mail account. Pretending to be another solicitor. But then you may get done for something else. But maybe quite hillarious lol
very good, i like that, but dont want to risk it, might look at a court injuction cause he's just harrasing us now
Looks good from your point of view Saraj nice one, read the letter and I can't see how he has a chance, always good to get one up on them :tongue_smilie:
I would now probably leave it and see of he gets back to you as I would suggest he won't bother.
I cannot see how a signature from you to your mortgage company gives any authorisation for them to commence work or is binding in any form. They should have sent you an information pack of work they intend to do and pricing including a form for you to sign instructing them directly.
I am of the opinion they are just trying their luck hoping for a quick buck, obviously finding it tough in the economic climate
