Have you considered using a 9 pin s-video cable? If it is the same pin layout there is a very random chance that it might work

A conversion to what? Steve not a clue mate, might need to get one made up if Stav's is not the right one but that'd mean taking the screen or lead apart to make sure everything matches up, it's a pain because it powers the screen through the lead aswell instead of just AV.

Is the cable the same size as an S-video cable? If it has 9 cores, it sounds pretty thin to be carrying power as well?

Yes mate it's the same as an s-video lead, i'm guessing it only uses 3 pins for picture and sound and the other 6 for the power.
