Surround sound
Oli - it is down to the sound card or an amplifier to upmix stereo channels to 5.1. I use a Soundblaster X-Fi which will play my music out of my 5.1 speakers but you could use any card that has a good CMSS 3D effect or Dobly Digital Live! bundled with it. These can be in software or hardware but have to be licenced by the sound card manufacturer.
oh no, well mate all i got is a standard 3.5mm jack to rca red and white, then red and white into a seperating block which goes to front channel, centre channel and rear channel. thats it.
you have the z55000 mate, looking at that 300 quid tho is a bit much
and ill have a look at sound cards
What is it that you want to listen to on this surround system ? Is the surround already encoded in 5.1 ?
what do you mean mate, just general music
music probably not encoded in surround.
ok, well that's what I was getting at. If you're listening to just music it'll be stereo and it won't come out of the surround speakers really, as you say it won't be encoded for that.
As edeath said you need something (hardware/software etc) to upmix your stereo-encoded music into 5.1.
I had an older Logitech surround system previously and I'm sure you could adjust the bias slightly from the main control unit - or is yours a different type of system? Either way I hate music in surround, I need it to be coming from all three front speakers or just left and right, can't have it all out of the centre.
Oli you need one of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...11&subcat= Shame they are out of stock atm sure you can find one elsewhere though.
