Clunking When Braking
Clunking When Braking
I had this for about 2 years until i almost went mad!!!!!
Replaced the shims, pads, discs etc but the noise kept coming back. Finally i bought some used calipers from a LOC member and swapped them, been fine since..............however now i have a squeeling on the back thats driving me nuts. I give up with this car!
Hope you get this sorted soon mate.
Jason
tommy i have 2 new rears if ure needing .in the bag unused if it helps
It's the front shims i need mate, but thanks alot for your offer.
check how many are missing , i have about 3 front second hand ones in the shed, topos and bottoms are different so check whats missing and ille see if its there mate,
I havn't had a chance to have a look mate, when i said it's the front shims, i ment thats where the noise was coming from. Would i need to take the caliper off to check the shims or can you see without removing ?
just take ure wheel off mate when i had 1 missing i took wheel off and u could move the pad up an down an see the shim missing, just went the scrappy, thats y i have a few spare, hope this helps
Thanks for the info mate, i'll give it a try tomorrow, weather permiting.
This clunking when turning slow and braking has retured to mines. It dissapeared after getting new pads about 4000 miles ago.
I took my wheels off today and checked the shims. Should you be able to slide the shims up and down slightly with a screwdriver ? or should they be soild onto your brakepad.
If solid i think i may try to put some copper slip on the shims.Would this help ?
Thanks for the info Gord, they are defo moving if i push them, so think i'll get copper slip on and hopefully that helps with the knocking mate.
Thanks again.
Cheers mate, need to get this sorted.
