I guess seeing as MK3s are 10 a penny Ian means the MK2 Spider. There were 91 or 94 made supposedly (although there is a guy who used to work for TRD who disputes that) and they were all RHD N/A Autos (Tom who runs NVI disputes that as his is a manual turbo but most people in the know reckon that it was an engine conversion done in Japan). There is one in the Toyota motor museum which is a turbo (possibly 1 of the prototypes). There is one I know of in Ireland and I know where/who that was purchased from, there is one in France (but that is UK registered and was imported into the UK from Japan). 2 have been broken for parts on eBay. There's that one that was at Duxford. There is one in the Netherlands.

Tom has imported a few:

Working on the basis that the one in France was one of Tom's and that the one I saw at the show was as well, I think there are 4 in the UK (including Tom's personal ride). Plus 2 have been broken for parts, 1 is in France, that makes 7. 1 in the Toyota motor museum makes 8 and Dutch one makes 9... wonder where the rest are Wink

There are a few others knocking about on the internet, including this ever so tasty example (I think this is in Japan):

Probably the only TRD2000GT Spider! That photo is a photoshop, but only to change the colour of the car (the car is actually red). There is another spider in the background too, in a rev5 only colour of Mica Orange (same as the BEAMS MK2 that I nearly bought). I believe all Spiders to be rev4, if I'm right then that's a respray.

I believe Jean-Christophe who owns the French one (as you may have guessed from his name lol) has some interesting plans. He also owns an LHD auto (USDM, rare over this side of the world) and an RHD turbo as well as the spider, and has mentioned making the spider the only LHD turbo convertible in the world Smile

Interestingly they were all converted post-manufacture from hardtop cars, like mine. The work was carried out by TRD/Technocraft.

Love the last pic with the two cars in front of the museum !

Also, what's the scale of that turbo pic, is that a standard-sized pallet that it's on ? Confusedhock: What's that off ?

Very interesting stuff about the Mk2 spyders

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

steviewevie Love the last pic with the two cars in front of the museum !

Cheers - I was quite pleased with that, would be better if it were straight though!

The hanger we parked in front of is the American Air Museum... it's that big because it houses a B52! Seriously, the plane's wingspan was wider than that photograph by miles (if you look very carefully you can just about see the wing line through the glass). There was an A10 in there too

Yeah, normal size pallet, and if it helps that is a plane undercarriage wheel next to it. It really is that big  I would assume from being at Duxford that it was off a plane :Chair:

ok smartypants :p Actually I wondered if it was off some sort of tug for pulling the planes - they typically have enormous engines for huge torque.
