toxo That's interesting - when I read that article earlier today it distinctly said:
They lost the court case so they have gone ahead and revealed who the stig is themselves. The right move if you ask me, sort of upsets the sales of the book now!
I have known for years that it was Ben collins, i got told by the Maclaren Mechanics it was him so pretty reliable source :laugh:

lots of ppl have known who it is anyway.
he was seen at all top gear events (could be a coincidence)
he was named in the richard hammond accident as a witness (could be a coincidence)
i dont think it will damage the show at all.
all they'll do is get another stig and the guessing games begin again
or if he stays as the stig will anybody know for a while???
if he has decided to stop being the stig then its the right thing for him to do imo.

And they have even had him as a guest driving cars before! From memory he drove the car along the runway while a guy parachute jumped into the car! :tongue_smilie:

personally i think its just a stunt to get even more money from the licence payer.
ie the 'new' stig will need his id protecting more so he will be paid more to keep his mouth closed.
