Do you think 16's would be better on a rev1 then? Any suggestions are welcome!!
Been getting a bit over excited coz I've only just bought it, plus I'm an eBay addict!!
Thanks again.

Gord Welcome Smile

Don't know if any of you know ??? i used to have MR2 :glare: the one with the red top beams engine :glare: not many about i was told ?

I think you have mentioned that actually... JDM only Revision 5 cars. If you believe the chat there were 1000 of them - the engine also went in some of the last MK6 Celica GTs as well.

toxo You wanna be careful putting 17" alloys on a Rev1. They have a very touchy suspension / geometry setup and you will probably find it twitchy and that it tramlines a lot! If you can try and keep the rolling radius the same (which is smaller on the rev1 because the stock wheels are 14" where rev2+ are 15" with different geometry) but doing this you will end up with ludicrously low profile tyres which really hurt your ride!

not all rev 1's come with 14's depends on if its a import or not imports come with the 15's and a better spec........
i ran 17's on mine 205 40's on the front and 225 40's on the rear and it handled very well..
heres my 1990 rev 1 mr2

ormi not all rev 1's come with 14's depends on if its a import or not imports come with the 15's and a better spec........

Really? I've never heard that anywhere before... and the EPC doesn't agree with you! It quite clearly says '8912-'9112 is 14x6JJ on the front and 14x7JJ on the rear, where they're 15x6JJ front and 15x7JJ rear on '9112-, even on JDM models like the G-Limited and GT-S.

It's widely publicised that the SW20 got bad reviews for its supercar-style handling on the limit when it was first released, which was addressed by a load of changes for the Rev2 in 1992. This includes a redesigned rear subframe, different tie bars, tension rods front and back, larger brakes, and larger wheels to fit over the larger brakes. However I've found mistakes in the EPC before, so prove it and I'll believe you Smile
