The handbrake isn't a positive, it's a ground. All you need to connect that pin to for it to work is either the chassis or the negative wire going into the stereo.

In fact, you could even just run it to one of those screws on the back of the HU - they will be grounded to the chassis when the head unit is installed in the vehicle.

Presumably the reversing one is for it to auto switch the video display to a reversing camera when you have one installed. That one *will* be a positive not a negative.

My concern is I don't want to blow the unit by fiddling with the pins. Can this happen?

Also from what I can see in the picture for the handbrake, it looks like a + sign rather than a -

Probably if you don't know what you're doing. Where are you based (You haven't filled out the location in your profile), there must be one of us near you that could sort this out...

I'm in Kent mate. More near South East London. Spoke to Matt at Newera and he said he can't help as it's not something they deal with, which is fair enough.

I want to have it fitted in my sisters car as a birthday present so if I can get it sorted it would be a nice suprise for her

There a few websites that will bid on your behalf and ship the item to you. http://www.rinkya.com/ is a good one.

You could try newera again now that you've found a source of the cable but I'm not sure they'll be interested for something so small and cheap.
