tbh that was my contingency plan anyway, contact style switch on the valve itself. not ideal but at least it would ease the manual switch installation, i was thinking of using a throttle cable still, but going to my redundant bonnet lever, i love retrofitting like that lol!

yea cheers, makin the heat resistant comment got me thinkin about magnetic switches, as they are sealed and i have some somewhere.
then that made me remember my old b20a6 mk1crx (that thing was scary), i had to use an extra injector which was firing from vaccum, so i did a search for the type of switch used in that and low and behold they are common as muck, I just ordered a hobbs adjustable, boost actuated switch for 15squid from the yanks! purpose made and perfect (hopefully)

he mentioned a pressure switch to controll the valve, i dont know how to quote properly yet so did it like this!
so i was planning on setting her up with trial and error, having the bypass valve running of another ms-ibc controller, i can adjust that easily and get it set up to a point where i have no/little boost drop during the switchover on constant throttle, but also i don't want to compound the boost!
so yea it has to be smooth and precise! problems will occur in on-off throttle situations, so i thought i was gonna have to dump air, (i want to recirculate idealy!)
low and behold a pressure switch is an interesting idea, may actually give me more progressive controll over the valve as i'll be taking readings from where ever in the system i want, rather then the manifold like my baileys! and i'll have nice fast electrical stepper motor controll!
hmmmm, but then i would be using an electrical signal to controll the bypass, rather then it being mechanical, taken from boost levels, (bare in mind im making my by-pass and doing a budget build) which would totaly change my valve designs!

He is talking about using an electronic boost controller to give him in car adjustablility to 'tune' the changeover point to minimise boost drop.
I believe the electro magnetic clutch was fitted to Merc Kompressors using the Eaton M62. This can be switched on and off using your boost switch.
MK1 MR2 SCs have an electronic clutch on the supercharger pulley as well (basically the same as most aircon compressors). Could you use a vacuum solenoid or something to close a circuit once a certain pressure is reached? Or a comparator circuit running off a MAP sensor, i.e. once the sensor is outputting x amount of voltage (akin to x PSI) then switch the relay for the clutch off.
As you said above, the complications will come in things like when you put your foot on the clutch, your pressure will drop and the S/C will come back in again putting load on the engine when it's freewheeling? I've seen the electronics for twincharger kits before and they ar big and plentiful!

The 2nd url is comparing voltage on the THW line which is the coolant temp sensor but the principle is the same.

i could have ended up researching in alsort of pointless directions then. i see what your getting at now, makes much more sense! I wouldn't need a switch on the bypass atall and could still manually over-ride the clutch easily, thanks for the info :thumbup:
