Inner tie rod ends
Inner tie rod ends
rob ok i found the source of my knocking - its the bushing at the inner of the toe control arm RH side. the movement is very very small and hardly noticable but when the arm is braced with a lever the sound stops.
for the tie rod gaiters, you can re use the clips but have new ones or alternates at hand just in case as they are a PITA to re install.

I've changed the drivers side
ah, its really best to change both sides at once, now that 1 side is firm and new i guess the other side is highlighting any wear present.
as u have powerflex bushes on 1 side you need to put them in the other side, they are expensive, thats why i went for the rubber bushing kit.
get a tyre lever and play around with that arm and see what u can find - best is on a lift and a mate to rock the wheel at 3 and 9 position
Just come back from http://http://www.alineyourcar.co.uk/and had a quick geo check after having tons of parts changed and it's all sorted now.we also found out that the front drivers side camber bolt had become loose and this might have been the main cause of the knocking, but for £38 fir a full geo I can't moan at all.
i did the lower control arm bushes...
dont bother trying to press them out - get a blow torch heat up the outside of the arm and also the bush metal sleeve - you can now tap the rubber part out. Then using a hacksaw cut a slot in the bush sleeve, you can then easily remove the sleeve after.
use a vise to press the new bushing in - i put a smear of grease on the bushes before pressing them in.

just check the camber bolts,as even if its a little loose it will knock.
we checked everything at the garage for loose play and there was nothing
