LOTS of IS200 questions.....
LOTS of IS200 questions.....
Well my one is a 2000 and the only thing that has ever went wrong with it was the clutch . Apart from that its bullet proof
One other thing to consider is the fact that pre-2001 models you looking at a lower tax band.
Otherwise you looking at the L band, £244.75 for 6 months
where as the pre 2001 are much lower, in the region of £120? for 6 months.
Im now looking at getting as is200 in between my current astra and a Jag XF or IS250, but defo be going for pre-2001 due to the tax prices, just shame these models didnt come with the arm rest or in the "gold" / "Beige" color I love.
Never had a problem with any rust on my is200 which was a 1999 so pretty old, but then again only owned it for 3 months untill a Cat B'ed it.
I have only got a small bit of rust on my bonnet due to a stone chip , but I have had the underneath undersealed twice to try and protect it
No rust on mine and it's a 1999. Very solid, VERY well built cars.
Just please god don't buy one if fuel economy is a major factor.
A veteran alcoholic doesn't drink as much as the IS.
I wont slam the other site, as I found it before this one. To be honest though, I am glad I didn't find it before I bought my IS200 or else I wouldn't have bought it... Every other post was depressing me..Lol. I still haven't driven mine yet, fitted timing belt and tensioners yesterday, (piece of cake) doing little bits and pieces. Got to get a windscreen and wheels done, then MOT, tax then the dreaded insurance. My trusted 626 still runs like dream, and has taken me through several bad winters:lol:
Saraj One other thing to consider is the fact that pre-2001 models you looking at a lower tax band. There's a very slight difference in tax but it's negligible, tax on pre-01 cars is £215 for 12 months, and £260 for post-01. That difference is worth it for the improved spec of post 01 cars
Moley I have only got a small bit of rust on my bonnet due to a stone chip , but I have had the underneath undersealed twice to try and protect it

Did you get that checked out at a dealer? I had a tiny bit of rust on my bonnet and just had a new bonnet sprayed and fitted completely free of charge under warranty
