Indirect Discrimination?
Good discussion here I like it.
Can we make sure were 'playing the ball not the man' though.
Ie talk about the issue, not about another member
fair comment Jason and i am 100 percent with you on promoting people who want to make a go it and so long term dedication.
The people who I am after are affectively salry chasers who do what ever/take what ever it takes (if you get my meaning) to get on top just because they think they salary bragging ights is all that matters and are more the happy to leave a job as soon as a better financial offer comes along regards of how long they have been in job.
That and use scum bag ass clowns that just get jobs cuase they mates with someone.
If you want a job it your responsibility to get you act together get out there and sell it to people not just ring your mates and use every sob story just to blag your way through life.......no no no waste of skin to the world if you ask me.
Example I was made redundant this year, no warning, new mortgage no money.
I was re-employeed with 6 weeks all off my own back cause i was determined. I called in no favours to achieve this. Where a mate of mine just cried to another one of mates that he did not like his job so he just gave him a 30 grand position and this guy cant even tie his own shoe laces (he lost his last comany 45 grand) just cause he rang him and cried down the phone. This sort of this has to stop.
Mate serious just get out there and show your company just the sort of person you are andmake them regret not giving you the job.
Wow 2 rants in a row i must be on a roll.....stay tuned tomorrow boys for the next installment.........lol
Its not an issue about showing interest and wanting the job.
In this case my colleague did assist the department in question for three days directly before the interview, when in the past she has always said she hates working in there.
Also what was not right is the fact that she left her own work for others to pick up (me included) to assist this department, the team was under immense pressure and falling behind in work.
The work we do is ensure blood and other sample results are sent to GP's asap, the above caused a delay in this and causes patients getting a delay in there diagnosis.
When a manager saw all this, they didnt care ! Cause they knew why she was doing it.
I could have easily left what I was responsibile to do and did the same and yes maybe have got the job, but at what expense? in this case GP's and health centres would have run out of blood tubes, forms etc.. as this was my responsibily directly before the interview.
When I say "ass kissing" I mean quite literally it. Why would you work in department which you have hated for years, leave everything else when concidentially you got an interview in there days later?
Dont get me wrong, they are positions coming up in the new year which would be more of a career move for me, and I have been preparing for these positions for the last year (getting invloved, knowing what is what, how is it done) but I have spent time doing this and ensuring my current job is done. Not make it obvious days before......
I hope you understand?
i understand you completely, However clearly non of you have served in the Armed Forces because trust me when i say this if you are liked more than another you get the job.
getting back to the main topic i have to agree with Rolex going the extra mile will always put you in a better position for the job what ever it may be. this shows willing in the work place and shows you wish to remian a big part of the company.
i have seen this many times in the Army the classic "why did he/she get promoted over me" yet the person saying it is always out on the drink every night and never gets involved in events or even helping out with general stuff.
all i can say is if you have been working towards this other job maybe they new that and thought it made more sense promoting the other person if you wanted to move
Yh hope so !
And guess where I am working next week for three days in between Christmas and New Year?
In the very same department doing the work which I would have been doing if I got the job, in my current role and pay.
Crazy, but hey hope for the best !
Saraj Yh hope so !
