Do you get an error code on screen? Top loading units don't really go wrong like the bottom loaders.

My top loader packed up (ERR3) whilst under warranty. As mentioned, Lexus replaced my unit as my car was still under warranty at the time.
My car is a late 2000 model- I guess my car was probably one of the first ones that had the top loading units fitted?
steviewevie I dunno, I think they do, just perhaps not as often and they're easier to fix ?

Mine is the Black version. The latest incarnation from Lexus. It is free of any errors and only 3 years old.
The Black units are best ones to have.
DJ Wozza The only thing you need to check for is the small number by the cassette slot.
13901-13906 etc
So long as these match you will be ok wether you have a Sat-Nav or not.
My OE Head unit went into a Navigator no worries (PCIronmike's IS200), but please be aware eventually the OE Head Unit will pack up.
Mine lasted in Paul's car about 9 months I think, then it packed up. It was fine in my car & his then one day the CD part just died.

It is a very common problem on the IS200, yes. Having said that, the IS200 has very few faults, and it's an easy one to get around with an aftermarket unit ! But if you still want the total OEM look you still have an option there.
To the OP: Do you have an ipod? If so, then why not buy a GROM ipod kit that allows you to connect your ipod to the OEM headunit.
You'll be able to keep the OEM look.
