State of the Nation
If people want to help with the re branding of the site we are happy to trial ideas and do a vote for you the members to pick the layout you prefer
Jimxms I think we should meet and have dinner to discuss the options
It isn't a case of just updating the layout Rabs, it's streamlining the function of the forum; keep what is working and drop what is no longer useful. We should consider dropping sub forums that haven't had any proper content for over a month, it doesn't look good when people come here and see only 1/3 of the subforums have recent posts. What we have right now is 100 people in a football stadium, which looks empty.
Again, have you considered allowing people to log on to the forum using facebook?
I'm aware of that mate and we are exploring all things that are mentioned
We will be streamlining the layout
Adding features
Removing bits etc

YelromKram As for the money side of things What you do have is a great name for a club, I think that with a little redesign / design of a club logo into something that you could plaster on a t-shirt and people even unassociated with the club would be happy wearing it. Take it to shows sell, sell, sell etc. A fundraiser could be a good idea, pick a show that you will have a strong presence at Buy some prizes ( something people want but inexpensive or freebies from a sponsor) then get the raffle tickets out get members out selling to the public and pulling people to the stand it's a bit of a gamble in that people might not want to buy tickets. another option might be to get kits together to complete certain mods, things that people can buy separately to mod their cars but you can save them the hassle and add 10% the cost. What would be really useful and possibly a really good seller (though a lot of hard work would be required) is if you can put together a manual similar to a Haynes manual. A pdf you can sell for a fiver with the the servicing and repair jobs step by stepped with pictures.
This guy makes a good point about a raffle etc. I've seen this a couple of times now..Once at Japshow there was a club with t-shirts on a rack for sale and a little stand with bits and bobs on selling to raise funds for their club. It could have been a raffle for all I know.. Can't remember that far back now!
Just went to The Fast Show yesterday and again I saw the same sort of thing.. an Astra owners club (who reminded me of this club with their banners etc) had a balloon on the back of all the cars causing attention and a little stall with things for sale (Didn't take that much notice to be fair.) But there were a small crowd of people on that stand.

YelromKram The site is great and there is a lot of information on here for lots of different mods and fixes, however the availability of this information can sometimes be hard to get to and when you find the information you need the OP has removed the pictures from their Photobucket accountThat's a very good point. I would love to see an easy to find DIY section with nothing but guides on how to do different mods or maintenance. I used to have all my pictures hosted by Imageshack until they suddenly wanted me to pay for it, then I started hosting my own pictures. It now costs me £1/month for 15GB of space and that I can live with. If you make a DIY section I’ll re-upload all the guides I’ve made throughout the years. Hopefully some people will find them helpful.
