Clunking When Braking
Clunking When Braking
Have yours even got clips on Tommy ?
Don't know about the clips Stevie, i can see the shim plates when the wheels are off and i can slide the shim up and down til it hits the little tab on the back of the pad.
The noise is quite bad on full lock when turning and braking.
Thats all i can think it is since iv'e just replaced the bottom ball joints :confused1:
I will take and post a pic of my old (front) brake pads, the shims are still in place on those.
Here you go, see the clips at the top and the bottom holding the shim firmly in place ?
Sorry no, the springs are hopefully still inside my brakes !
Thanks for that Stevie, i'll have a look my next day off and see if they look the same.
Much appreciated.
A wee update on the clunking subject. I put the car into the garage this morning @ 9am.
Got a message at 11am saying my car was ready. Paul, (the owner of the garage had an is200 and now has a belter of an GS430) said he took the brakes apart, cleaned everything up and put anti slip/sqeal grease on the correct places, as previous brake replacer didn't.
Well, not only did the clunking/clanking/grinding noise when turning slow disappear, the constant knocking noise coming from the drivers side front also disappered. It's the quietest the car has been since iv'e owned it ( nearly 2 years).
I convinced myself the front end knocking noise was the shock inner vaulve. I resigned myself to the fact the only way i was going to get rid of the constant knocking was to replace the shockers.
Anyway, im sorry for the long winded story but i just wanted to share my happy experience and all the the sum of £20
Cheers lads, i just didn't want to come to work today.
Just wanted to drive about all day listening too ermmm nothing
Makes such a difference without that constant knock knock knock. Happy days.
