good motor mate.it does live up to its rep during ownership but also dissapoints in some respects.running cost equivalent to running a 997 GT3 and its only a BMW so feels a bit silly on balance.

Is it really expensive to run then? Is it just the fuel costs or is the maintenance high as well?

its not that bad and for the performance you get its actually cheap however my point is both fuel costs and constant servicing adds up and when compared to the cost of porker ownership,it seems foolish paying BMW lots of money for what is essentially a 5 series with a V10.

A porker certainly represents better value for money in my opinion.A gt3 has a £40k engine and they charge similar money for servicing that as what BMW charge M5 owners for maintaining their V10s.the M5 has condition based servicing so it tells you when things need replacing on the idrive and in how many miles each items needs replacing.its very clever however it seems to be a montly occasion sitting at the BMW garage partin with another £300-400 for something or another.my warranty renewal this year was £2100 with a £100 excess per claim,5 claims per year max.again both aston martin and porkers are cheaper to warranty.a 911 with 50k on the clock costs £900 to renew.BMW are swines for it.

Wow that does seem slightly beyond what I'd be happy to pay for maintenance, didn't realise it would be so much. I was expecting maybe £1500 on the annual service, but not a lot more than that.

That sort of explains why the used prices are so low then......
