Quote:I just had exactly the same thing when I had a pair of Michelin PS3s fitted to the rear of my car a few days ago (they mentioned someone having the same problem with Super Sports, must have been you!). Took it back as it felt awful and they swapped them with my front tyres. Now the front end isn't that sharp but that's a lot better than a loose rear.

Did it wear off after just 60 miles though? WIM told me to leave it for a 1000 miles and then swap them back, do I not need to wait that long?

The Super Sports just felt a bit sqiggly at 80+ when I got on the M25, then the M4, but before I reached M4 J15 it had gone. I guess there will be variation so it will take whatever until the effect wears off. I just put it down to the newness. I thought I had made a mistake in slightly increasing the width so I was glad that it appeared to rectify itself.
The PS2's we took off the rear were nearly on the wear bars and I didn't trust them too much in the wet, but they had worn absolutely evenly across the width.

IS 200 Sport with a few mods, Standardish IS-F. The IS250 SE-L with a few mods has gone to a new home.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Ahh perhaps I could have kept them on then, yep mine were exactly the same although I felt the rear moving around from about 65mph. Think I'll just keep them on until the front end tightens up and then I know I'll have got through that initial phase.

Yep mine were the same, the F1As that came off the rear were quite evenly worn (perhaps a touch more in the centre) and right down to 1.6mm so were well overdue a replacement. More interestingly my front tyres still look amazing after about 20k miles, about 5mm of tread and almost perfectly even wear - real testament to the quality of WIM

Hi Lebon,

Sorry I'm back now after the long week end break.

I still feel that your problem is tyre related. I am still experiencing similar problems with my IS200 after changing the rear tyres. I did over 500 miles at the week end and I was experiencing this vagueness like there was strong gusts of wind. It was definitely worse on the way to our hotel and on the way back; I think this may be down to the extra weight in the boot!! This bares out your theory that your car is worse with a 3/4 to full tank of fuel.

I still don't know why you fitted different tyres to the front and back, I appreciate that they are different sizes but I would have thought it would be sensible to stick to Sport Max or SP01s all round rather than mix them.

I still think playing around with the pressures might alleviate the problem. Do you have a pressure gauge? Can you check your pressures, front and rear and let me know what they are now?

I don't think I will be available until the week end now but if thats any good to you then let me know. Perhaps you can PM me your phone number and we can make arrangements.

No need for apologies Dave, it's ok no problem. Initially I changed my front Dunlops that was worned out on the inner to Michelins, at that time I had problems with the steering I was told by Lexus Canterbury to replace them with Dunlops so I got the sport maxi and then I was told by Lexus Canterbury to change my rears as I had 3 mm on the thread. Because I couldnt find a 245 sport maxx for the rears I opted for Sp 01 instead as they were used on Mercs Sorry I don't have pre sure gauge with me at the mo. But I know when I was at Wim last week it was 35 psi front and 38 psi rear.

This could go round in circles if it hasn't already :bored: I answered you in Post #12 of this thread.

@ Dave it was a pleasure meeting you today and can't thank you enough for the test drive. I did push the car on the way back and yes it felt fine except on the ruts on the road as the rear seems to be slightly pushing and also I think it's more obvious on the concrete surface rather then the Tarmac. I am hoping changing my rears to sport maxx will cure the handling. Thanks again

Glad this is moving forwards, it does seem tyre related, and perhaps you didn't notice the rear while the steering was messed up, and when that got sorted this became more obvious.

Hope the new tyres sort it Smile
