Well its been a manic week with work and getting ready for half term when work goes mental, what with all the kids visiting and smashing up the exhibits meaning more work for me! Probably won't get much done this coming week but will try my hardest to get somewhere with it.
Not really much of an update but always good to try and keep this regular and keep myself motivated to crack on. Been busy this week trying to get the micra ready for its MOT, one word RUST!!! and lots of it, but majority has now been welded/replaced and undersealed so fingers crossed it passes and i can get back to getting on with the Buggy.
Got a few more parts ordered this week, seem to order a few parts now on a regular basis. Posty says that it won't be long and he will have delivered ever part of it. After the issues with the indicators i ordered some new switch's for hazard, rear fog and lights. Decided to go for toggle switch's as they look different and go with the buggy well. Ordered them from CBS and have got a special one for hazards and lights. Also ordered some loom tape as well.
also ordered a dash sticker sheet so i can label all the switch's up properly so i know whats what, this was nice and cheap but has loads of stickers on it, alot i won't be using of course. bit hard to see in the photo....
Then laser cut a rough panel for the switch's and got them fitted loosely in place, the centre consol will be completly covered at a later date but this is just to see location of switch's more than anything...
and in place.....
I got a red cover for the hazards to make it stand out from the others and then got the stickers added to them....
Next job is to continue with the wiring of the switch's, lights, rear fog etc.
Also Paul from work continued with cleaning up the mk2 golf calipers, one done one to go....
i removed the VW logo and sanded the front part down smooth as well for a better look.
Then started getting a bit of paint onto it, has come along loads.....
Ordered a load more wire, relays and some loom wrap that should be here in the next few days. Also have a small sheet of abs on order to see what its like as a material for making the centre consol and panels from.
And thats pretty much been it for the moment, not much but at least its something i guess. Hopefully get the micra in for MOT this week and if all goes to plan i will be back on the buggy soon.

Very nice mate!
Keep the updates coming Jason, love seeing how things are progressing with this
Right its decision time, do i or dont i sell up??? :o
Only joking! ;D But im at that stage now that i either continue getting it to a running stage or start the major strip down now for powder coating????Not sure what way to go really. Im probably about a few months off having the thing running and in a driveable state. Need to get driveshafts in, brakelines made/ordered, coolant lines run and a little wiring and in theory i will be able to drive around the private carpark at work. Now do i continue to this stage or do i begin stripping the whole thing down now and getting it all cleaned up, all sharp edges smoothed out and getting it in powdercoat so i can start the final build and then get it to IVA. I still have some brackets etc to weld onto the frame but i can do this now and when its stripped down. I wanted to make sure that the frame was finished before powdercoating so i don't have to grind off powdercoat to add brackets etc but im almost at that stage now where the frame is done apart from the odd hole here and there, rivets bolts etc. and no matter how much i plan it im sure i will end up adding something to the frame later anyway. Although this could be done by bolting/rivetting brackets to the frame.
If i do decide to strip it and get it to powdercoat is there anything i should consider adding before it goes off for powdercoat? Should really get some recent pics up really and a list of what i feel should be added before powdercoating. Thats if i do strip it down?!?!?
Its getting harder and harder to do things like run coolant lines, brake lines etc as other parts are in the way. So what do people think? Any feedback greatly appreciated ;D
I would get it into a driving running state then do the strip down that way when you put it back together you wont be in one of those situations where you have to wreak you fresh powder coat because you encouter an issue which you would have found when you got it running.
Thats what i was originally thinking but everything is taking twice as long as i can't get to area's to fit brake lines, coolant lines etc. Im worried i will go to all this effort and then i will need to remove powdercaot anyway as i have forgotten something.
Who would have thought building a car from scratch would have so many problems Ha
Right, these are the parts i think need some sort of bracket/tab/fixing/hole welded to the frame and will require sorting before powdercoat.
* Brackets/tabs for engine cover
* Brackets/tabs for securing nosecone
* brackets/tabs for wheelie bar (if i actually need one that is?!?!?)
* Bracket for oil filter relocation kit.
* Brackets for oil cooler kit (to be added later)
* fixing points for battery cover/footrest piece.
* couple of additional frame pieces to the rear.
* weld on brackets/tabs for engine sensors etc
Im sure there are some parts im missing from this?
Obviously i will be grinding all edges, filling all holes radius all edges when the frame is down to its bare bones. I won't be able to make holes for panels, flooring etc until i am ready to fix them to the chassis for good.
Some kits are supplied powdercoated but then when you build them you have to drill holes, grind bits away when you build it. Earth points also need to have some bare metal contact so even a powdercoated frame won't stay solid forever. So you can see my predicament.
