So are they saying that fitting a £100 induction kit would have put your insurance up by £110 per year, i dont buy this at all, think they are just being awkward cos you never told them, anyway, why does it matter to them if the claim will be covered by the other party involved in your crash???
why is your insurance company having anything to do with it?
If your making a claim it should be through the other party. u dont have to go through your own ins at all. all you need to do is notify them you have had a non fault accident that is being dealt with by the other party.
There ins should replace the car back to the state it was before the accident inc ANY mods..
You should always declare all your mods to your insurance company. Yes, K&N filters count, and you should really declare things like LED eyebrows too. A reasonable insurance company won't charge any extra for minor things.
Cameron, what sort of induction kit is it ? Surely it wouldn't cost £330 to replace ? If you had the OEM induction and some of that broken it would probably be expensive to replace too (try getting prices for what bits of the OEM induction you think would be broken, to help your case).

agree with Redz though you dont even have to tell your insurance company.
third party companies are normally good as well as they'll value your car higher.
just a pr lex one. just aswell i took the strut brace off at the garage. i know am in the wrong with not telling them i had the induction kit on. they seem to be charging me a lot just for having one, prob there way of saying you should have told us merry christmas.once this is all done a dusted am changing company's. i only hope for the bodyshop's case that they put the car rite first time.
i can be one pain in the ar se if am not a happy bunny.
going to phone the place back on friday to get a list of what they have been told to sort on the car. hope it matches my list. of one new bonnet, bumper, head lights, fog lights, front end, centre console, air vent, glove box, crash bar, engine gaurd, new wings, and whatever else i think of.full geometry cheak and fix.might throw in a full alloy refurb also....time will tell.i recon thats more than £3000 worth of repairs.
but why are you going through your ins company?
all repairs/claims should go through the third party.. not yours. as long as your vehicle is insured they repair to the same spec.
You will find if you go through yours and allow them to claimof the ither insurer it will take a long time and will affect you adversly at renewal time and if the claim hasnt been settled with the other company you will have lost all no claims.
im not saying mods shouldnt be declared but in some respect its irrelevant as the third party ins should replace like for like. for example, one of my cars a few years ago got hit from behind whilst parked.
not only did they pay out on the vehicle but for the ice which wouldnt be covered under my policy and my work laptop and personal belongings that were in the boot.
And if you are making a pers injury claim, again do not go through your insurers as it will remain as an open claim until settled and again will affect renewals and all no claims lost until settled with third party.
well just had a total argument with some to sser of a engineer. he claims that how could my centre console air vent be due to the crash and thinks i am trying to claim for damage done buy me not the crash.to say am ready to explode is a understaitment.
