If its coming from inside. Im guessing if you can then see it, a small poke would make a hole. (If you get me).

If you poke it, and it doesnt feel week, then there may not be any rust "on the inside", just the rust starting on the outside...

Im probably very very wrong though...

The bodyshop guy had a pretty good look at it, though I don't know exactly what he wrote in his report.

I do tend to agree with you about what is likely to end up happening though Sad

I've written to Lexus GB Customer Relations about this, saying that I believe the fault to be from the original manufacture of the car, to try and give another angle on why the anti-corrosion warranty should cover it.

Perforation warranty means exactly what it says, i.e. a hole through the panel. Corrosion just showing under the paint isn't covered by the 12 year warranty.

IS 200 Sport with a few mods, Standardish IS-F. The IS250 SE-L with a few mods has gone to a new home.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

They sent me a very polite and nicely-worded letter saying "no", basically.

I don't think the point about perforation is quite so clear-cut in this case. Normally rust on the surface is going to be something caused by an imperfection under the paint which shows relatively quickly, or from a stone chip or similar. However my rust, whilst not coming (presumably ? though how do they know ?) from the undernearth of the panel, but seems to be coming from underneath the windscreen sealing itself, and isn't mere surface rust.

You just need to get it fixed, though it will mean removing the screen to do so. I've had the same on a Volvo 480 Turbo, a Lancia and a couple of Vauxhalls. It'll be corrosion from moisture getting in at the edges behind the seal.
Once it's under the paint will carry on spreading, and will just look worse than it is at the mo. Suggest you fix it before it really is a perforation issue, although it'll take longer than what's left of the perforation warranty to do that.
