BOOSST Thats very true, but sometimes these things happen and he stopped as we all would have when that sound came from his bonnett, Once he had stopped , he couldn't have jumped back in to drive it to a safe area.

I did get my MR2 moved, but that was only because I happened to be standing there when he caught fire initially.

I would have moved the other two cars immediately if there was access to the keys, which is perhaps something we should look into for the future. Not because we think cars are going to burst into flames at our stands, but so we can jocky cars around and let other members in onto the stand etc.

I think if we had all got together once 99% had arrived we could have dressed the stand and presented our cars better and caught more attention.

We need the attention to build the club membership and in time get bigger, better pitches too:wink:

One idea I had, was having some cards to hand out to other Jap cars and people and maybe over time increase membership :thumbup1:

I agree with what you were saying here Boost only problem was most of the other that arrived before us left and went out to different parts of the track before we could arrange the movement of cars better.

Would of been good to go to the none members club car park and dropped of club flyers.

You shoulda got some invitations to hand out in your Outlaw membership pack, matey Smile

I keep them in the glovebox, and if I see a deserving motor, I leave one on the windscreen...

But you could fire up a few hundred business cards for a couple of quid with the club logo, web address etc on it and hand those out as well, or even flyers?

On the subject of cars and safety... might be worth keeping an extinguisher or two handy by the stand?

IS200 Sport - Sold
Mazda 6 MPS - Zoom Zoom!

Modifications
Completed:

Currently 280bhp/295lbft; 3" Meercat custom exhaust; KW Suspension; FMIC; SSP; HPFP; Custom Stainless Steel Dials - for the moment, the only set in the world!! (Till the group buy for MPSOC anyway  )

In Progress:

E-Tuning remap ongoing via Cobb Accessport; Braided brake lines; Stubby aerial; Tinted repeaters and sidelights; 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid; 3" HTP Intake

I have 2x1kg hand held dry powder extinguishers at home doing nothing, these are AA approved and issued, both are fully charged and just been re-checked for operation for use for when I am at work.
Gladly donate to the club if you feel they could be put to good use

I did indeed get those fliers and have handed a couple out to encourage a few to join. I think since I have joined i have got a few to join as well, only one other who has become an Outlaw in full though.. but, we all do what we can

Regards the extinguishers, I would like to say, one or two, perhaps, but.... it took 14 to stop that Skyline from going up completely

They last approx 15 seconds if your lucky. OK if you catch a fire VERY quickly no good for under bonnet things..

I will have 2 full size ones coming off hire fairly soon (4 weeks??), club can have them if someone collects. Oh 2 small 1kg ones also.

I didn't mean his stopping was wrong .. I admit I had a car burst into flames around me once and I just froze. I only meant if he knew there was oil he should have cleaned up and didn't for the sake of his track fee, that particular action could have cost us all. Tis a risk at any time though and not just at an event, I don't pop my bonnet every single time I drive so could have the same risk. (Eeeeks, now I have freaked myself out!)

There are usually a few fire extinguishers on site when the Outlaws are at an event, the problem is that if we leave them out they will get nicked and this show like most of the ones we go to, has a lot of other activities people want to do so the stand isn't always occupied.

The flyering thing is one to be careful about each event has different rules and there was a clause in their conditions that says unapproved flyering is not acceptable.

There's some great ideas I've seen kicking about for what we should aim for including flyers and a photoboard of all our club cars and some excerts from the forum so people can see how funny and clever our members are, something that does bring us together so everyone can meet everyone.. the difficulty is the usual .. time, cost and the practicality of getting all this stuff to the show as not many of us drive 'practical' cars lol

parthiban Btw, what is this?

That's a slovakian car called K1 Attack Roadster. I read an article about this particular car in a Swedish car magazine. You can read about it here as well: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/new...arage.html

Bit of info from the driver Special-k

right just a quick bit of info on what happened

first session breather pipe split by the turbo changed the pipe but didn't have the time to clean all the oil off before next session

second session 2nd lap slowed down and came in due to smoke in the foot well
came in started getting worse then i stopped just by the ambulance and fire area on witch point the aircon rad exploded giving me a nose bleed i got out walked round the front went to walk back as there is and extinguisher behind my seat but was shouted at and pushed by the marshals to get back

i was pretty dazed and shocked so i just had to stand back while it burned as the fire truck guy was directing traffic to the pit lane

totally my fault next time to clean off the oil and waste a £35 session then loose the car... hopefully i'll bounce back stripped most of it last night interior is fine loom is done!! the main man mr Julian smith rang me this morning offering 1 can of Rio and 1 r34 gtr engine wiring loom

thanks to all that helped me get the car home i'm truly grateful
