Welcome to the club Smile I have a question...

monkey_matt currently sits at 255whp which works out roughly to 330-340bhp so around 100bhp over stock

How have you worked out your flywheel power? If that's right, that's a *mental* power increase for your mods (in fact it's into piston melting territory on the stock turbo). Plus it's about 25% transmission loss which isn't right (E153 gbox with the transfer box is just under 20%).

Flywheel power is always a guestimate, and I used the accepted trans loss that most people use for the GT-Four of 25%

but your right it is the limit for the turbo, any more and would have to change, but there are a few GT-Fours running that power with little mods, the rev3 3sgte is a hardy block and the smaller CT20 turbo is much better than the CT26 found in the ST185 and early MR2s, the car is capable of it, but rarely used to run it on full boost, usually settling for 0.9bar, only ever put it fully up for the dyno and Santa Pod, but you have to remember I'm getting better cooling via the FMIC compared to the chargecooler which helps to keep temps down a bit, along with other cooling mods

Yeah I'm intrigued because I used to run a 94 MR2 turbo w/the GT4 chargecooler and ECU Smile Same gearbox minus the transfer box and that was 245 at the wheels on stock boost!

I can't believe people think the GT4 loses 13% extra power just through the transfer box, that's madness!

toxo (E153 gbox with the transfer box is just under 20%).

ST205 doesn't use the E153, it uses the E154F

Cant work out how to edit my posts for some reason :S lol

Yeah the AWD transfer box saps loads of power, its a nightmare, but what they lose in power, they gain with grip

monkey_matt ST205 doesn't use the E153, it uses the E154F

True, but the only differences are the ratios of 1st-3rd and the selector cables coming out of the other side. Other than that the gearboxes are identical down to the diff (The MR2 box even has the connections for the gearbox oil cooler that's only there on the GT4, they're just looped together).

I think only paid up members can edit their posts?

but anyhow, due to the transmission loss always being a guess, I always quote the whp as thats the one that matters

Yeah that's fair enough, it's a more sensible way of looking at it. If only everyone else looked at it that way Wink
