steviewevie Sorry, I'm being dumb, this is an IS220 right ? I was thinking of the IS200. But if the same is true on the IS220 then presumably they changed shade at a particular date/year ?

It wasn't a change in colour, there were 2 blues for the mk2 IS and surprisingly both were really dark - one was dark blue and the other was almost black.

parthiban It wasn't a change in colour, there were 2 blues for the mk2 IS and surprisingly both were really dark - one was dark blue and the other was almost black.

Really ? I was talking about the two blues that were very similar to each other, Montrose Blue and Strathcaron Blue, I think. I thought one took over from the other, and that's what seems to have happened in the US from this paint chart (though that has the US paint names). I realise there was also Antimony Blue. There was also Montrose Blue (8P4) but again that seems to be a changeover job according to the US chart.

Sorry, this is kinda off-topic for the thread though !

I'm confused, I thought we were talking about the mk2 IS but those are the colours from the mk1?

I was referring to how there were 2 blues for the mk2 - although seems I may have been wrong as according to that link there was only one dark blue (8P8) which makes finding parts easier for Carpediem.........not sure what caused the confusion in that case

I presume the US only got one blue variation then?

Mines Pearl Blue
Ive also seen one called "Midnight Blue" (but its actually windsor blue)

i think the "changover thing has also happened on the MK2,

as per linky, they dont do "pearl blue" anymore, so windsor must of succeeded it

There should be a plate somewhere on the car with your paint code on it, quite possibly under the bonnet. Have you tried having a look for that ?

Good point, forgot that we were talking about doors off different year cars.

I remember seeing windsor blue and canterbury blue but don't know which is which, although if windsor blue is the current one then maybe yours is canterbury blue (no idea to be honest)
