Reverse Dip Mirrors
Reverse Dip Mirrors
I have wire rodding tools in the car
I can get tig welding wire if anyone needs :thumbup1:
From the instructions supplied with the kit, I've found out that there are two modes in which this dipping kit can be setup.
I won't go through all the details here, it's all the instructions with the kit. But a summary is that by default, the mirror will dip every time you put the car into reverse, unless you override it. However, I've now set mine into "Mode 2", where by default my mirror will *not* dip unless I override it. This latter option works better for me, as there are a lot more times that I am parking without needing to dip the mirror (e.g. in a car park) than when I do (i.e. by the kerb).
How do you switch between modes? Do you need an additional switch or do you chnage it on the unit itself?
I am just trying to understand how easily the modes can be changed.
You can't easily switch between the two modes. Well, to do so, you have to disconnect the unit from the wiring (it does just pull off), then turn the two control knobs a certain direction, wait 30 secs, then plug it back in, then adjust the control knobs back to their original positions.
So you really need to leave it in one more or the other, depending on if you usually want the mirror to dip, or you only want it to dip some of the time (obviously if it's incredibly rare that you want it to dip, you might as well not bother with the unit and manually adjust the mirror !).
With my "mode 2" (non-default) setup, to make the mirror dip, I have to put the car into reverse, then very quickly flick it back out of reverse and into reverse again (just moving the gearlever backwards and fowards on my manual gearbox). I presume it should be easy enough on an auto too.
'Mode 2' would be ideal for me.
I know I have missed the GB, but are the kits stills available?
I'm sure they'd still be available. The only issue may be price, because Rabster got these at a special price for the Group Buy. Unless of course anyone from the GB changes their mind and will let you have theirs.
If these kits are still available I would be interested in 4 units.
2 for my IS300
2 for brothers IS200 Sport
I used my mirror dipping for the very first time "in anger". Often I'm parking in a car park with no kerb issues. But yesterday I had to park at the side of a road that I was unfamiliar with, with an uneven kerb. Got my mirror to "do the dip", and it was great, had a nice view of the kerb and it made it much easier to judge
