its a wankle engine and doesn't use pistons it uses triangle shaped rotors and instead of piston rings it has carbon tips the tips wear down really quick if theirs not enough oil so by adding a small amount of oil to the fuel(just like the old two stroke motor bikes) it helps reduce the wear of the carbon tips......
thats straight from a tec from mazda its also on the mazda owners club..
Ormi, never heard of that before (oil with the petrol) not mentioned on the RX8 forums. I know there are additives some suggest but nope, just use good old Shell V-tec.
As for the advice on the underdrive pulleys, I was not planning on this but thanks for the info. Engine and handling there is not much more I can do as I am pleased with both as they are, Prodrive suspension set up & 231 bhp = 9000rpm redline :w00t:
thanks
all looking good bobby, I have not heard about putting the oil in the fuel itself as I looked into the RX8 for a while, what I did read was that you should check the oil every other fuel stop, but i also thought that that was when it was new and running in, they do use oil as you prob know..
did you also know the prop shaft is carbonfiber on uk cars but steel all other places
