Sparkystav Turbo gone mate, Headgasket was fine, but changed it anyway
What had caused the mayonnaise and the overheating of the plastic ball race carrier.
Typical, just days before JAE but sure you will get it done in time mate.

not sure what caused the mayo, thinking either short journeys i've been told it can happen? or the head lifting and mixing fluids.
the carrier melted because of lack of water on run down. caused by the same thing we think maybe.
so uprating and overhauling is the way forward IMHO

but stav think about it, why do they use a plastic carrier in that harsh environment. Subject to so much heat in operation, then suffering from latent heat exchange when engine shut off. Can you get a modified bearing anywhere, (ceramic)??

It's not the bearing itself its the surrounding or something. I'm not exactly fully ohfaa with it. Need to study the garrett website see if I can provide some more info.
However garrett have been making turbos for years and are well respected so I'm not going to question their design lol
