yup i usually use some sort of foaming based cleaners for the engine be it tyre, wheels or carpet stuff. then when wiped down go over it with silicone dash sheen - but keep it away from the induction kits so make sure its covered over with a cloth

this is my reply i got from rob at kleers.

Hi Dean

Glad you enjoyed it, attention to detail is a must for future, I dont know if you got to see the 300ZX next to you but i couldnt find a water mark or spec of dirt anywhere and that is the usual standard of S&S cars.

Just a quick email with some of the points which marked you down from the weekend.

The categories were very tight and some minor details, even water marks and polish chalk were taken into consideration.

My marking worked on:-

First Impressions (max 10) 9
Body (max 20) 14
Wheels (max 20) 17
Engine Bay and engine (max 20) 17
Interior (max 10) 6

First Impressions were very good, clean honest looking car.
Body, my notes have that you had marks on the passenger rear door and marks around your air vents, water marks on your front bumper, the finish on your bonnet vents needed atention, youhad dirty wheel arches and various water marks on the car
Wheels - Brake dust and also dirt / dust on the inside of the rim
Engine - Some dirt and dust in the bay and also the underside of your bonnet was dirty in places.
Interior - 6 was my maximum score for a stock interior

I hope to see you at another event soon.

Kind regards

My marking worked on:-

First Impressions (max 10) 9
Body (max 20) 15
Wheels (max 20) 18
Engine Bay and engine (max 20) 17
Interior (max 10) 6

First Impressions were very good!
Body, my notes have that your grille wasn't one consistent colour, the finish on your bumper some filler marks, overspray on the black inner arch, paint on your window rubbers and white polish residue.
Wheels - Some brake dust on one wheel and the inner lost you 2 points.
Engine - Some dirt and dust in the engine bay and on rear bulk head, I also marked you down for a dirty dump valve.
Interior - Very subtle, Stock door cards lost you points.

All things that can be sorted out. I polished the dump valve for 30 mins with that Auto sol stuff clearly need something better!!

Door cards are not stock - from a Rev3 +, the tweeter changes are subtle even Toxo needed the tweeters to be pointed out to him!!!

Apart from that OK.

And there are some stunner's out there also!!

That Nissan 300ZX will take a whole lot of beating though in the Nissan class.

As we have always said its the winning that counts not the taking part.
