Clarion is still a pretty cheap brand though... If he can hear a 'night and day' difference between the chinese special and a JVC unit then nuff said.

Sorry but the xtrons are "Chinese Specials" I've had several chinese head units, either from chinavision or through ebay and IMO what you get for your money is 2nd to none but you pay for the branded models and you do get better quality, just a fact Smile

I would never buy a JVC/Alpine or Pioneer brand new, just don't think they are worth 5 times more than what you get from China and I have never been a true audiophile, all my music comes either through the phone over BT or from an external HD but even then, my JVC still sounds so much better.

The only downside really to the chinese ones are if they go wrong, been down that round and it cost almost the price of the HU itself to get it returned and replaced Sad

All in my humble opinion Wink

Toyota Altezza Z Edition.

Todd im with you on this one, I can never justify upwards of £500 for a Branded head unit,
"Chinese Specials" do offer so much more for so little, with a slight offset of sound quality, Most people are never in their cars long enough to spend that sort of money on a decent HU.

1990 Eunos Roadster in Mariner DU blue
Cobalt cat back, Decat pipe, 15in Red Rota GT3 alloys, Toyo tyres, Lowered on Coil overs, Red anti roll bars, 14degree timing mod, white dash kit, illuminated side marker lights,
Halo ring headlights, OEM windblocker, Bluetooth streaming HU, Blue leather handbrake and gear lever gaitor, Centre brake/tail light mod, Blue velour door cards, Polished cam cover, Polished front strut bar, 4xheadrest speakers, JDM floor mats, Suede semi dish steering wheel,

+1, there was no way I'd have paid the asking price of the Kenwood unit I've got new, it was like £900!! eBay ftw
