Turn over
Turn over
Hello people
I have a problem and need help. The problem I have is on turn over. I put the key in and turn it I can hear the starter motor clicking but it just clicks and the engine does not start. Then turn the key back to off and car will then start when turn it again.
I had this problem a couple months ago but only did it once, then not for ages then it started doing in again couple weeks ago. Most of the rime the car will start first time just on acouple of occasions.
Anyone got any ideas where to start checking?
Gary
Defo the two brass contacts in the solenoid that have worn/burnt away, changed 100's of these over the years on toyota and earlier LS400's
sorry
copper not brass, (edit button)
and generally gets worse when the weather is damp/cold for some reason.
easy job to change once starter is removed
Yea send it to a repair place and save the cost of a replacement:thumbup1:
So it the solinods in starter motor that have gone.
Is there any way of checking this to be 100% sure it is this before paying a repair bill
Gaz
You will have to have it removed and sent to a repair place for them to test the unit. I don't think there is a way to test them on the car?
Ok mate. Spoken to my dad and he used to recon starter motors. So he going to do it for me next week.
Will keep you posted.
Goin to check the conection 1st.
