Auto Retractable Number Plate Mechanism!
Auto Retractable Number Plate Mechanism!
Resulting from interest for this product on my project BMW E30 M3 & AE86, I've had a batch of 5 new ones specially made up for anybody that wants one.
This is a retracting number plate stay which works especially well with US & Japanese sized number plates and also works with UK European sizes, provided the plate gives enough air resistance to cause itself to fold back at speed (Drill holes closer to the top of the plate).
Usually at approx 40 mph the number plate will fold back and return to vertical position at lower speeds.
This works with a hinged mechanism which is spring loaded. There's a removable screw which holds the mechanism locked when desired (Note this is slightly different to the older version shown in the picture - where there's a sliding pin instead).
Please note you may need to space your number plate appropriately to allow it to fold away.
Construction is aluminium and stainless steel, so it won't ever corrode. I'd had these on my cars for years and they still work perfectly. Good for improved air flow too!
We can take absolutely no legal responsibility if you choose to use this for hiding your number plate from speed cameras when driving at high speeds on public roads.
Price is 105 GBP (British pounds) & includes Express Mail (Registered) postage. Takes around 3 days to arrive.
Paypal to [email protected] or PM with your e-mail, full name, postal address and telephone number for delivery and I can send you an invoice if you want to pay by bank transfer. You can also call us on: 0207-193-3979 to pay by card and reserve your's.
Only 5 pieces currently available.
As we've only currently got 5 in stock to test response - Supplied on a first come, first served basis. If this sells out I'll have more made up but please allow 2-3 weeks for a new batch to be made if so.
Cheers!
Miguel.
I don't get it, what's the point? Is it to get more air through?
LOL. Personally I use these so I don't have to worry about forward facing speed cameras in Japan... But it's pretty useful for improved air flow too.

Adjustable angle fixed mounts are cheap and readily available... But not nearly the same.
These are custom made auto retracting brackets - made in Japan and there's shipping from Japan to wherever they sell worldwide. If you know how weak the value of Sterling is, you'll realise it's dropped in value 45% in 3 years. So yes, 3 years ago these would have cost around 70 quid delivered... Nobody's fault the value of Sterling's not good.
On no other forum have we had thread crapping like here. Some people have said they've been looking for one of these for ages and been grateful that someone's gone to the trouble of having these made up.
Clearly some people can appreciate they're worthwhile as we're nearly sold out.
If you don't like the price, just don't buy. Simple.
I actually remember you selling these a few years back for £70, always fancied one for the Supra at the time
There's actually as guide on one of the rotary forums on how to build one of these from scratch but personally I think it's a bit unfair to have a pop at the man for selling them.
Just because some folk may have the skills to make one of these from scratch doesn't really justify slagging off Miguels product.
All in my opinion of course
I know some people are not happy with the price but if like you say they are not then simply don't buy one!. I would love one of these for the Demon but the problem i have is that my car isn't exactly a one off so if i get snapped and the plate is up then they will have the pictures of the car anyway and there is nothing else on the road that looks anything like mine so they will definately know its me
Sounds like you have nearly sold out anyway
and i know exactly what you mean about the Yen/sterling exchange rate, i bought £5000 worth of Yen yesterday and the rate is just **** compared to a few years back. It must be making selling out of Japan alot harder!
