iOS / Froyo / WM7..............
iOS / Froyo / WM7..............
I thought i was confused between choosing an iphone or something with Android/froyo on, but now Windows Mobile 7 has arrived,.......im even more confused!!!!!!!!!!!
the reviews seem decent, and it looks like it would fit my lifestyle quite wel with being able to use excel spreadsheets and stuff on my phone,
does it work basically like a mini windows? but with other phone stuff thrown in?
Not really, the new Windows Phone 7 has been extensively redesigned. The old version 6.5 was a bit more like a mini Windows. The new 7 version is more along the lines of the iPhone, more designed for touch screens etc. One big advantage of a Windows Phone is that you get excellent MS Office compatibility.
I've got a phone with Windows Phone 6.5. I'm currently thinking about switching to an Android phone. WP7 is a lot more "locked-down", unlike 6.5, and more like the iPhone/iOS, i.e. not so customisable (though that may change over time ?).
^^Yeah ive heard its "locked down" alot, but does that really mean alot to me though?
the only issue thats cropped up so far is the linking it to zune software to update etc,................i dont have a working laptop at home and dont really car for one lol,
wonder if i could do it via my xbox though???
I know what you mean, some people (most people ?) will be perfectly happy with a locked-down phone. That may be right up your street.
Sorry I'm not sure what you mean about the updating.
Personally, I'm seriously considering the new HTC Desire Z, since I really like having a slide-out hardware keyboard. There has been a WP7 phone with a hardware keybaord announced for the US, but currently that's US only and not even out yet, and WP7 is very new anyway.
Have to admit I'm quite curious about WP7 and might give it a go - I'd need to find out first whether it would integrate as easily with all my google stuff as android does but otherwise it does look nice.
The issue for me is I like how google is all about the "cloud" and they're moving more and more towards that, whereas with MS as you say I'd imagine I'd need to plug the phone in and use Zune, as you would iTunes with the iPhone.
When i say updating i mean like software updates and stuff,
so lets say windows bring out a fix for the lack of cut/copy/paste.....i would have to connect it via usb to e computer with pre-loaded zune sfotware

Ok just been having a quick look at this and WP7 will have OTA updates - larger ones will require wi-fi (or usb) but still wireless so no need to plug in. I think they're following the android route with this rather than the iPhone.
I couldnt find that o the microsoft website?......it says in their "how to guides" that you plug into PC,
i tried an iphone 4 over the weekend and whilst i like the interface, im not keen on the handset, felt way to bulky and metallicy
so its deffo android or WM7
no jsut a case of which phone
