Marsdendean be good on turbo cars since you can let the engine get nice and warm, so you can just jump in and go without driving like miss daisy!
Sadly for me, even warmed up and ready to go.. I spend the first few hundred yards driving like miss daisy..... over the feckin :Shooting

only plus side is it gives me a GUI to send commands verses having to type them lol

Rabster im looking to see if this new feature interfaces with my current alarm, from the looks of it, i will loose some of my other features i have wired in if i jump to this

How does it work then? Does the car have a SIM card in it? So essentially you can start/lock your car from technically anywhere?

^^ Dont think its a simcard based one (viper start), its a wireless unit installed in the car (not sure how the unit itself works)
but i imagine the actuall process is same as central locking, your within a certain distance and can do it,

It has to be though as it says "start your car from virtually anywhere"
If it works from a phone the only other alternatives are bluetooth or wi-fi - and of the three a SIM makes most sense.

Your Viper SmartStart is an always-on connected device that communicates over the GSM/GPRS network. Just like a cell phone, your SmartStart requires a service plan from 3rd party provider to communicate over the network.
Which means there will be line rental involved - which seems a bit excessive for what is effectively a toy

i'd prefere a wireless option like remote locking or something, that sim thing seems a bit OTT
plus, imagine, you wake up and find your car stolen, so in a rage you hit the "turn off button" and some robber somehwere looses all power and has a catastrophic accident?

I hadn't thought of that, I imagine it won't allow the engine to be switched off like that via the phone (only the remote start feature) but that would actually be brilliant!
And I'm sure I've seen stuff that can remotely shut a car down, lock the doors and set the alarm off but don't know if that's commercially available yet.
