any information on an RX
Adrian....
Yes I do also drive the family RX300 regularly. To be honest with you it is like driving a comfy armchair. It is just so quiet, soft and refined and you will love at. We have had it a few years but the RX still (in my opinion) still looks modern and has lots of equipment. Ours has sat nav, touchscreen and the reversing camera.
Considering the RX is 4 wheel drive the lock is superb and they are really very manoeuvrable. I have borrowed it a few times in the snow when my BMW won't get off the drive and its been fine.
I personally wouldn't want an RX300 if I was going to do alot of off-roading, it is defineltly more at home on the road (as Clarkson would say - a Chelsea tractor!)
The autobox is very smooth and changes gear seamlessly. Things I do not like are that when you need to make quick progress and need to kick-down the engine can sound abit strained and noisy and it does roll a fair but (but then its a 4 wheels drive high sided crusier) but in normal driving it is quiet and refined - a proper Lexus.
If you wanted a 4x4 that looks good (in my opinion - I know Gord thinks they are ugly :p), is superb on road, comfortable then I would go for it but remember the reviews do say its not great off road but if you are just after one to survive with the snow then you might be able to get away with some winter tyres for it which will make it much better.
What happened to you getting an Evo?? Were you not able to persuade Mrs Mole? An Evo on Winter tyres would be good (and a lot more fun!) and its 4 wheel drive! iscoStu:
milage doesnt mean jack on a land cruiser we have one that comes in with 450,000 miles on it,its an auto the boy travels from edinburgh to london all the time and also goes serious off roading with it....(winch front and rear!!!)as long as they have a history and have been looked after nothing goes wrong with them...also look at the condition of it......its mint even the inside...as for towing theirs nothing it cant pull.....
I have not decided on what to get yet, just looking for ideas.
Like I said it all depends if we move house or not.
@Anees, Gord put Mrs Mole off of an Evo at JAE so not allowed one now LOL.
I;ll just have to see what Mrs moley likes to drive all on a budget of 5K
I,ll tell her to have a look at some and see what she thinks
You could compromise and go for something like the subaru forester, utterly reliable good ground Clearance and if you go for the turbo very fast.
suzuki jimny.......amazing wee jeeps and dont let the 1.3 put you off....it was the only car that could get out my street in the snow thats inc beating a discovery and a nissan pathfinder..
Ormi that would be more embarrassing than driving the Puma, so scratch that from the list :whistling:
hey i was going to buy one honestly google them youll be suprised.....
